Rhyl RNLI’s Dip Dewi Sant 2025 makes a splash!

Lifeboats News Release

Almost 200 supporters braved the chilly waters to help raise funds for the RNLI.

Rhyl lifeboat volunteers held their annual dip last weekend, after the weather warnings over the Christmas period turned the festive dip into a St David Day Dip. A fancy-dress competition was held with the winner picked by Ms Cheryl Williams, Rhyl’s Major. Refreshments were provided by Rhyl RNLI volunteers including hot dogs and drinks, which were very much appreciated after the chill of the water.

We also welcomed members from St Kentigern Hospice, who had planned their own dip the weekend before in Prestatyn, however the weather had other ideas, and like Rhyl’s festive dip, this had to be postponed.

Peter Robinson, Event Team Lead, said: ‘I’d like to express my gratitude to the community as a whole for coming together to raise funds for the town’s lifeboat. The RNLI is a charity funded entirely by voluntary donations and this year, the kindness of those who attended raised over £2,000 to power our lifesavers to the aid of those in danger at sea.’
