Llandudno lifeboat launches to assist angling vessel off Rhos-on-Sea

Lifeboats News Release

On the afternoon of Saturday 28 June, Llandudno’s all-weather lifeboat William F Yates was launched following reports of a small private angling vessel experiencing mechanical failure near the Rhosneigr Buoy, off the coast of Rhos-on-Sea.

The lifeboat made swift progress to the reported location. On arrival, the crew made contact with the skipper of the angling boat, who confirmed that the vessel had suffered engine failure and was unable to make its way back to Rhos-on-Sea Harbour under its own power.

With no immediate danger but the vessel adrift, the crew made the decision to take the casualty vessel under tow. Working efficiently, the team rigged an alongside tow and began the journey back to the harbour, where the angling boat was safely returned to its mooring.

Coxswain Graham Heritage said. ‘The crew worked well together to quickly rig up the tow so that we could be on our way and get the casualty to the safety of the harbour.’
