Third Service Launch in a Week for The Lizard RNLI

Lifeboats News Release

For our third service shout in a week, our crew were paged at 1.21pm following reports of a broken down motor vessel with no means of propulsion in an approximate position of one nautical mile south of Lizard Point

The Lizard RNLI

Under tow...
Falmouth Coastguard requested our assistance and at 1.32pm under the command of Coxswain Phil Woodcock, RNLB Rose launched on service arriving on scene at 1.39pm.

With 3 persons onboard, it was clear following a thorough assessment that the vessel was unable to make any meaningful head way under sail alone. The decision was made by the Coxswain to take the vessel under tow to the nearest and safest port, Falmouth.

The towline was attached and RNLB Rose arrived in Falmouth at 4.57pm. Having safely secured the vessel the lifeboat made for home and arrived back at her station in Kilcobben Cove at 5.46pm where she was rehoused, refuelled and made ready for service again when required at 6.15pm.
