Llandudno lifeboat crew assists injured casualty in Rhos-on-Sea

Lifeboats News Release

At 6:51pm on Friday 11 July, Llandudno’s Inshore Lifeboat (ILB) was tasked to a report of a male who had sustained a serious knee injury

The ILB launched following a request from Holyhead Coastguard to support Llandudno Coastguard with the casualty who had apparently slipped on an uneven sea bed while wading ashore at Rhos-on-Sea after paddleboarding.

The ILB launched with four crew members aboard, three of whom are casualty care trained. Upon arrival at the scene shortly after low tide, the crew found the casualty on the shoreline being treated by Llandudno Coastguard and paramedics.

Due to the soft sand in the area posing a challenge for safely moving the casualty up the beach, the decision was made to transfer him onto a stretcher and into the lifeboat. The ILB then transported the casualty to the slipway at Porth Eirias, where an ambulance was waiting. With the firmer sand at that location, the ILB crew assisted Coastguard personnel in carrying the casualty up the beach to the waiting paramedics.

This call-out was a significant moment for crew member Adam Quinn, marking his first service call since recently joining the crew.
