Newbiggin RNLI lifeboat station mourns the loss of one of our volunteers.
Tim Martin aged 91 years, our former boathouse manager, was remembered today Thursday 23 January 2025, by family, friends and supporters at his funeral.
Tim had been an active volunteer member of the local RNLI family for 68 years beginning his voluntary service during the 1950’s as emergency mechanic and signalman, then onto second mechanic along with roles as winchman, tractor driver and shore crew before taking on the role as deputy launching authority then in his latter years as boathouse manager.
RNLI volunteers and staff, along with the Newbiggin Coastguard rescue team, formed a procession from the boathouse to the church following the coffin then provided a guard of honour both into and out of the service of remembrance where Tim’s life and all the good things he has done were remembered.
Fair winds and following seas Tim, a life well lived, giving to the community throughout.
