Newbiggin RNLI called out to injured walker
Newbiggin RNLI’s inshore lifeboat was called out today (Monday 13 January) to an injured person on the rocks.
The call for help came in late morning to HM Coastguard with details of their position and concerns that the tide was flowing. Newbiggin RNLI’s B class lifeboat Richard Wake Burdon was launched with three volunteer crew shortly before noon to proceed north and locate the casualty. After a short search in the moderate wind and moderate sea conditions the casualty was located with the lifeboat standing by as coastguard rescue teams from Newbiggin and Blyth arrived on scene to assess the casualty and extraction options.
With assistance rendered on the shore the lifeboat returned to station at 12.30pm to be washed down, refuelled and made ready for service.
