Llandudno Lifeboat crew responds to callout following training exercise.

Lifeboats News Release

On Sunday morning, 12 January, Llandudno’s lifeboat crews were at sea for their first training exercise of the new year. Both the all-weather and inshore lifeboats had returned to shore and were being washed down and refuelled when a call came through.

At 12:07pm, the Inshore Lifeboat was tasked to assist a 7-meter motor-powered angling vessel off Rhôs-on-Sea that had suffered mechanical failure. Despite deploying its anchor, the vessel was in the vicinity of a wreck marker buoy.

The lifeboat launched swiftly with a crew of three onboard and arrived on scene within ten minutes. After assessing the situation, the Helm determined that the safest course of action was to tow the vessel to Rhôs-on-Sea Harbour. The boat’s skipper agreed, and the Coastguard was informed of the crew’s intentions. The lifeboat crew successfully towed the vessel to its mooring, securing it safely.

‘This callout was a great example of our crew’s readiness and professionalism,’ said a spokesperson for the RNLI. ‘Even after a morning of training, the team responded quickly and efficiently to assist the vessel in need.’
