The event, which is quickly becoming a cherished tradition, attracted a record-breaking turnout of both participants and spectators, with numbers continuing to rise for the third year in a row.The day almost didn’t happen, as poor weather on New Year’s Eve raised concerns about the safety of the beach. However, clear skies and a determined community ensured the race went ahead, turning potential disappointment into a day to remember. The atmosphere was electric as locals and visitors of all ages bounced their way across the sands, all in the name of fun. More importantly, the event served as a vital fundraiser for Trearddur Bay RNLI, reinforcing its critical role in keeping the coastal community safe.Thrilled with the outcome, Pauline Hardman, one of the organisers and volunteer at Trearddur Bay Lifeboat station, said, “We’re absolutely delighted by the support we’ve seen today. It’s heartwarming to witness the community coming together to have fun while supporting such an important cause. The funds raised will go directly towards maintaining our lifeboats and crew training, ensuring we’re always ready to respond when needed.”The event also resonated deeply with attendees. Local resident and originator of the event Heron Maj shared, “This is what community spirit is all about. The laughter, the joy, and knowing that every bounce helps our lifeboat station stay operational is incredible. Despite the shaky start due to the weather, it turned out to be a perfect day.”Thanks to everyone’s enthusiasm and generosity, this year’s Space Hopper Race will be remembered as a highlight of Trearddur Bay’s festive season.
