Both lifeboats launch to assist with search for a missing person
Both Swanage lifeboats were tasked to assist in a multi-agency search just after 6pm for a missing person.
Once that area was searched the area was expanded to include Swanage Bay, Ballard Point and Old Harry Rocks.
Whilst searching the Southern end of Swanage Bay the crew of the inshore lifeboat were alerted to some members of the public flashing torches at them. On further investigation it was found that they were with the missing person. This information was relayed to the UK Coastguard who passed it on to Dorset Police. Once land based Police and Coastguard units were on scene the lifeboats were released to return to station at 7.45pm.
