Angle RNLI launch to multi-agency incident in Milford Marina

Lifeboats News Release

Angle Lifeboat was requested to launch at 8.58pm on Friday ollowing a 999 call to the coastguard reporting a person in the water near the bowling alley in Milford Marina. night.

Just a minute later the crew received a cancel message after the caller confirmed the person had exited the water. However, just 4 minutes later the crew were paged again after the person re-entered the water.

The lifeboat was soon underway and with the marina lock gates closed the lifeboat tied alongside the pontoon within the lock while the pier head staff locked the lifeboat in as quickly as possible. Fortunately, with the water levels not too dissimilar due to a rising tide, the lifeboat was soon within the docks and making way to the area.

The crew commenced a search around where the person had entered the water, but it was soon confirmed that he had self recovered and was safely with police officers, the Fire Service and a Coastguard Rescue Team on the quay wall.

With no further assistance required, the lifeboat was stood down and waited a short while for the lock gates to open on free flow, before exiting and making their back to the jetty. The lifeboat was back on her berth and readied for further service by 10pm.
