Captain Byron Griffiths, Bangor RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager welcomed the visitors to the station and showed them around the crew room and boat hall. Gareth Whan, Bangor RNLI helm explained the working of the lifeboat Ruby Robinson to Lord Stevens, and the equipment and systems used to save lives at sea.

HM Coastguard is responsible for tasking and coordinating rescue operations whenever an emergency call is received, and RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews and coastguard teams are regularly on exercise or services together.

Tom Bell, Bangor RNLI Lifeboat Press Officer said: 'We are extremely grateful for the support that we continue to receive from HM Coastguard and we were delighted to welcome everyone to Bangor lifeboat station this afternoon. We regularly work together so it was natural that cross agency training and operations was discussed.’
