Two highly skilled ice sculptors spent two days carving a replica of the Lytham St Annes RNLI Shannon class all-weather lifeboat, Barbara Anne, which was the centre piece of the Fylde Council’s annual Ice Festival. This year the festival was held at Ashton Gardens and the surrounding streets, previously it has been held at Lytham and at Kirkham.

The station’s volunteer crew were invited along to collect donations to help the sea charity’s life saving work. The station’s volunteers took on a rota to cover the whole five hours that the festival was on, despite the bitter weather, with the Lytham St Annes inshore lifeboat, MOAM, and her Land Rover attending to help spread the RNLI’s message.

When the donations were counted at the end of the day, a superb total of £855 had been raised from the generous public.

Lytham St Annes Branch Chair Digby Moulden said, 'Well done to all who helped today! A brilliant total! Thanks again to everyone who was involved.'
