Three Sligo Bay RNLI volunteer crew members pass their Tier 1 training

Congratulations to Rachel Wirtz , Conor McShane and Aisling Murphy on recently passing out in their Tier 1 assessments.

First Tier 1 volunteer crew for Sligo Bay RNLI
Speaking after the assessments last week, Linda Bradley, Sligo RNLI Volunteer Training Coordinator and Shore Crew said , 'Rachel, Conor and Aisling are the first crew in Sligo Bay Lifeboat station to pass out on the new OCF training system.'

In order to complete Tier 1 assessments, the volunteer lifeboat crew had to;
Attend the RNLI College in Poole, Dorset, for two days intensive training on Crew Emergency Procedures
Train in and pass 9 modules of their training plan, including anchoring, towing, mooring & berthing and local knowledge
Complete individual assessments with RNLI Assessor Sean Ginnelly for 2.5 hours

'All this takes a considerable amount of time and dedication for our volunteers so well done, and thank you to Conor, Aisling and Rachel for their commitment and hard work. Thanks also to the helms for training them and supporting their progress.'

The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts.
