New Lifeboat Operations Manager Takes the Helm at RNLI Rhyl
Crew Member Mark Budd takes over as RNLI Rhyl's new Lifeboat Operations Manager.
On the 14th February 2025, Rhyl lifeboat crew welcomed their new station manager, Mark Budd, who took over the role from Dr. Chris Stockport.
Mark will now manage all station matters, and will lead the operations team, whose role is to ensure the station remains ready and prepared for all eventualities, from overseeing training of volunteers is running smoothly to making sure the lifesaving equipment is being kept ready and available for service calls.
Mark, who has been a crew member for over 27 years, has held the positions of in-shore Lifeboat helm, all-weather Lifeboat navigator, and recently began his training as a deputy launch authority. Mark is well versed in the operations of the station, and will slot seamlessly into his new role. He is a deputy harbour master at Rhyl Marina and previously managed the Denbighshire Lifeguard Service before the RNLI took over.
Coxswain Martin Jones says: " After an incredibly challenging selection process, we are all very excited to welcome Mark as our new LOM and we look forward to supporting him in his new role. I would also like to give a huge thank you to Chris for his faultless leadership and we wish him well in his new endeavours on the Isle of Man. "
