Two More Pass Outs For Calshot RNLI
Calshot RNLI recently celebrated the successful pass out of two of its volunteer crew members, Ant Hole and Kyle Robbertze on the stations Atlantic 85 B Class Lifeboat.
Kyle successfully passed out as Tier 1 B Class Crew having reached the required standards in anchoring, veering, towing, mooring and berthing, locate and assist techniques, VHF radio operation as well as demonstrating a strong level of local knowledge.
Ant, who is already a Helm for Calshot’s D Class Lifeboat, successfully passed out as Tier 2 B Class Crew, having previously achieved Tier 1 status. Tier 2 requirements include risk assessment, watchkeeping, hydrology and hull types, helming, helicopter operations and navigation introductions.
Commenting on the achievement, Calshot RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager Mike Atwell said: ‘The RNLI Operational Competence Framework is designed to ensure that volunteer crew members across the 238 stations across the UK and Ireland are trained to the same rigorous standards. It is a testament to the hard work that Ant and Kyle have both put in, comprising hundreds of hours of online and practical training as well as operating on service when paged. The commitment and dedication of our volunteers ensures that we can continue to deliver life saving services across our patch.’
Kyle’s next step will be to work towards Tier 2 and Ant will be progressing with his B Class Navigator training before eventually moving to the B Class Command component.
