Since joining Llandudno RNLI in 2023, Leon has shown outstanding dedication to both training and service calls, balancing his voluntary work with his career as a celebrant and freelance photographer.

The Tier 1 passout is a significant assessment that tests the skills and knowledge gained during inshore lifeboat (ILB) training. Overseen by one of the station’s local assessor trainers, the evaluation ensures crew members are fully prepared for the demands of lifeboat operations.

With this milestone achieved, Leon now progresses to Tier 2 training, the next phase of his development. Once complete, he will face a final Tier 2 passout, assessed by a regional assessor trainer, marking another crucial step in his journey as a fully qualified lifeboat crew member.

Robert Williams, local Assessor Trainer, said: 'Leon has put in a tremendous amount of effort and commitment to his training, and his successful Tier 1 passout is a testament to that dedication. He has demonstrated the skills, knowledge, and mindset required to operate on the inshore lifeboat, and we’re looking forward to seeing him progress further in his journey as a crew member.'
