I saw a ship come sailing in
Oban Lifeboat has had the privilege of escorting our newest neighbour into Oban Bay.
Christmas Day saw the arrival in Oban of the Northern Lighthouse Board’s vessel, the Pole Star.
A Northern Lighthouse Board crew had sailed the hybrid powered lighthouse vessel – described by the NLB as a technological step change from what has gone before – from the shipyard in Gondan in Spain where she was built.
Members of the RNLI crew of 13-50 The Campbell-Watson led the Pole Star on the last leg of her journey to her new home.
The Pole Star, the fifth vessel in the fleet to bear the name, will support NLB’s vital safety service to mariners in Scottish and Isle of Man waters.
