The event was officially opened by Mudeford RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager Tim Hewett, alongside Deputy Mayor of Christchurch, Cllr Maggie Fidler, before local choristers The Choir Engine led the crowd in a rousing programme of traditional Christmas carols. The evening was generously sponsored by Winkworth Estate Agents.

Despite the winter chill, the quay was packed with families, friends and visitors who joined in the singing, making this third Carols on the Quay concert the best attended so far.

Mudeford RNLI fundraisers were kept busy throughout the evening collecting donations, while Rookie the Reindeer, Stormy Stan and Santa ensured there was plenty to keep younger visitors entertained.

The Haven House Inn was busy serving food and refreshments with proceeds kindly donated to the RNLI. Nearby, Highcliffe Sailing Club held a special members evening with the ticket money raised going to the lifeboat station.

Local residents Anthony and Lorraine said, ‘It was a wonderful evening and such a special way to start Christmas. Hearing everyone singing together on the quay was really moving, and knowing it’s all in support of the RNLI makes it even more meaningful.’

Tim Hewett, Mudeford RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager, said, ‘It was fantastic to see so many people come down to support Carols on the Quay. This event has become so popular with the local community.

‘On behalf of the crew I would like to thank everyone who attended, sang, donated, and supported the event. Your generosity will truly make a difference and will really help us continue saving lives at sea. Merry Christmas everyone.’

The Mudeford RNLI Atlantic 85 lifeboat, Henrietta H, has launched 77 times so far this year.
