Looe RNLI volunteers represent the “Twelfth day of Fishmas”
Twelve volunteers from RNLI Looe Lifeboat Station feature in Creative Looe’s “12 Days of Fishmas” celebration calendar
Six Boat crew + Six Shore crew = Twelve Lifeboat Crew
Looe RNLI’s volunteer crew were delighted to help celebrate the "Twelfth day of Fishmas", joining colleagues from the Blue Light services together with town groups and organisations celebrating the 12 days of Christmas in the Creative Looe - United by the Sea "Heroes of Looe" 2026 calendar. The team from Creative Looe recently photographed twelve of our volunteer crew in the boathouse with the charity’s Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat Sheila and Dennis Tongue II in the background.
Three of our volunteer crew can also be spotted in the groups representing the Sixth and Seventh day of Fishmas, Our former Lifeboat Operations Manager Dave Haines joins fellow ferrymen in the June picture and two of our gig rowing crew join Looe Rowing Club’s Mens A crew to represent July in the calendar. They are volunteer helm Dan Margetts, a member of the Mens A crew who first won the World Gig Championships back in 2018 and Nathaniel Rothwell who went on to row in every Mens A team that has successfully held onto the championship each year since. Nathaniel was also a member of the Oars of Thunder team who rowed the Atlantic Ocean this time last year in the World's Toughest Row.
Creative Looe's “United by the Sea” project focuses on providing & supporting creative projects for the young people in the town giving them a more valued sense of belonging, connecting them with the towns rich culture and history. By working with local artist & community groups they are finding ways to showcase how fantastic the youth of Looe are.
Creative Looe have started to release, verse by verse, their Cornish-language version of the Fishmas song, and on Christmas Day they will unveil the full length film, saying “by then, everyone should know the song in both English and Kernewek — a truly bilingual Looe Fishmas!”
Calendars are £8.50 and are available from both Co-op stores in Looe, The Guildhall Market, and Looe Library. Creative Looe CIC give all proceeds back into the community, helping fund creativity in the town.
