Santa arrives at Bangor RNLI
Santa has arrived at Bangor RNLI. A distress flair was spotted just off Eisenhower Pier Bangor on Saturday (13 December) at 4.55pm.
A small red tugboat its precious cargo was brought safely alongside the inside of the harbour wall; where the occupants, Santa, Stormy Stan and a reindeer were able to safely disembark.
Stormy Stan, the RNLI's mascot said it was a privilege to help Santa during this busy time of year.
Santa was able to distribute gifts to all of the excited children waiting for him.
Byron Griffiths, Bangor RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager said: 'Thanks to Gareth Whan, one of our helms for organising and to all who supported him, to Little Wings for the delicious pizzas, to HM Coastguard for their help and support and to Brian Meharg for the use of his boat to deliver Santa.'
The party was very well attended by the family and friends of Bangor RNLI crew and volunteers.
Byron continues: 'RNLI lifesavers at Bangor are ready to answer the call this Christmas. Whatever weather winter throws at our volunteers, they are prepared to leave their celebrations with friends and families to battle the elements to save lives on the water. These rescues, and others all year round are only made possible by RNLI’s generous supporters, helping to fund essential kit, training and equipment needed to keep crews prepared and protected. As a charity we rely on voluntary donations to power our lifesaving work. There are many ways you can give to the RNLI.'
