Teignmouth RNLI volunteers launch to assist yacht aground on rocks

HM Solent Coastguard requested the assistance of Teignmouth Lifeboat volunteers after reports of a casualty vessel aground on rocky shore.

On Tuesday 8 April volunteers from Teignmouth Lifeboat were requested to assist a vessel and its two crew located by The Ness, Shaldon.

Following the request from HM Solent Coastguard four volunteer lifeboat crew launched onboard the Atlantic 85 Lifeboat at 10.25pm, arriving on scene shortly after.

Two casualties were found onboard the vessel which had ran aground on the rocky shoreline to the base of The Ness just outside the mouth of the River Teign.

The crew onboard the lifeboat helped the casualties to safety, whilst leaving the casualty vessel at anchor. With support given by Dawlish Coastguard.

The casualties were recovered to Teignmouth Lifeboat Station where they were further assessed, and assisted by the waiting shore crew. Teignmouth Lifeboat, Claude and Kath, was cleaned, refuelled and back on service shortly before midnight.
