Plymouth RNLI responds to fourth Shout in two days during crew meeting

Lifeboats News Release

With volunteers already on station for their monthly crew meeting, Plymouth RNLI was able to respond quickly when pagers sounded for the fourth time in two days, launching to assist a casualty on Plymouth Hoe Foreshore.

At 7:44pm on Monday 7 April, Falmouth Coastguard requested the launch of Plymouth RNLI’s All-Weather Severn Class Lifeboat Sybil Mullen Glover to assist a female casualty who had fallen onto rocks on Plymouth Hoe Foreshore.

Our volunteer crew launched swiftly and proceeded at best speed to the location. Upon arrival, the Y-Boat was deployed with trained casualty care crew and medical equipment on board to reach and assess the casualty on the shoreline.

As our volunteer crew arrived, we joined emergency service colleagues from South Western Ambulance Service and Plymouth Coastguard Rescue Team already on the scene assisting the casualty. With the possibility of needing to extract the casualty by boat, our volunteer crew remained on the scene in support until it was decided the casualty would be extracted by land to a waiting ambulance for onward care.
