The yacht, having lost power, had drifted into Ardlussa Bay earlier that day. Following the grounding, the individual on board made it safely ashore with the assistance of Jura Coastguard team. The yacht remained under observation by the Coastguard throughout the day. As high tide approached later that night, Islay RNLI was requested to assist in refloating the casualty vessel.

With a crew of six volunteers, Islay’s lifeboat made good speed to the scene. Upon arrival, the crew launched the daughter Y-boat with two crew members to assess the situation. The team successfully refloated the yacht and established a towline. It was decided to tow the vessel to the nearest safe and suitable port at Crinan.

The Islay RNLI lifeboat returned to Port Askaig at 12:30am, where it was moored and made ready for service once again. Thank you to Jura Coastguard for assisting in the rescue.
