The all-weather Severn Class Lifeboat the Ivan Ellen was launched immediately under Coxswain Neville Pittman with a crew of six RNLI volunteers and made best speed across the bay in a moderate to rough sea with the easterly wind gusting to force 7-8.
On arrival at Kynance Cove the Y-boat was launched from the Ivan Ellen with helm Will Treneer and crew Aaron Clayton proceeding to the cliff base. Aaron was dropped off to recover the dog which was taken by them to its welcoming owners at a nearby beach. Mullion Coastguard Rescue Team also attended and fortunately the dog suffered no obvious injuries.
Penlee Lifeboat and its crew returned to Newlyn to wash down and prepare for the next shout arriving just after 2:00pm.
