Family raises money for New Quay RNLI in memory of loved one
Last month, New Quay Lifeboat Station welcomed the Farrow family who had travelled from far and wide to visit the station.
Travelling from south Wales, Florida and New Zealand, the family came together to remember their late parents and donated £1,200 they had raised in memory of the mother, Kathy Farrow who had passed away in February.
Her daughter, Angela from Llantwit Major near Cardiff, said, “We are a pretty large family, spread across the world, and New Quay holds a special place in our hearts as our family have been visiting for the past 70 years.
“Last July was the first time in 16 years that we had all been together and we celebrated with a trip to New Quay, reliving some of our childhood memories and talking to our own children about the trampolines on the beach, candy floss up the top and the arcades. We then lost our father to cancer in September last year and our mother in February this year.
“Our Mum was a much loved, happy and caring person who is going to be missed by everyone. She supported the RNLI and we wanted to do something to remember her so we decided to raise money for New Quay Lifeboat Station.
“We had a great day out visiting the station and meeting the crew and want to thank everyone for their time.”
Ed Hides, New Quay RNLI’s Lifeboat Operations Manager said, “Thank you very much for raising £1,200 for our station in memory of your mother, Kathy Farrow and your grandparents, who loved New Quay and had been visiting for over 70 years.
“As you know the RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea and relies on donations to train and equip our crews. Every contribution is greatly appreciated. Thank you.”
