Search launched after cries for help reported
Both Swanage lifeboats were asked to search Studland Bay after cries for help were reported to be heard from the shore
The all-weather Shannon class lifeboat checked mooring buoys, channels markers and several moored boats in the bay, working from south to north. Several white parachute flares were used to illuminate the scene.
Both boats found nothing untoward on this sweep. The ILB was asked to repeat its search while returning to Old Harry, the Shannon plotted a parallel line route within Studland Bay and the area was covered one more time.
Neither lifeboat, nor the Coastguard teams, found anything during the search and the UK Coastguard were happy that the area had been thoroughly covered. Both boats were released from the service returned to station just after midnight.
