The Royal Mint commemorative RNLI 200 50p coin

This special coin created by The Royal Mint to mark the Royal National Lifeboat Institution’s (RNLI) 200th anniversary, offers a unique opportunity to commemorate two centuries of lifesaving work.

A percentage of the proceeds of each commemorative coin will be donated by The Royal Mint to the RNLI, supporting the vital work of the charity’s lifeboat crews and lifeguards.

The 'Strike Your Own' coin experience has been a highlight at The Royal Mint this month, with visitors learning more about the RNLI’s incredible history and current lifesaving efforts, whilst being given the opportunity to strike their very own edition of the coin.

Andy Gavan, Coxswain at Barry Dock RNLI said:

‘It’s been fantastic to see so many people supporting the RNLI by striking their own coin at The Royal Mint Experience.

‘With only a week left, we encourage anyone who wants a unique opportunity to strike their own coin, to head to The Royal Mint in Llantrisant before the end of the month!

'We extend a huge thank you to The Royal Mint for their generous contribution from the proceeds, which will play a vital role in supporting our lifesaving work along the coast.’

Earlier this month, RNLI volunteers from Barry Dock and Penarth Lifeboat Stations were the first to strike a commemorative 50p coin during the launch event. Visitors to The Royal Mint were able to meet the lifeboat volunteers, hear their stories and learn important water safety advice, including the RNLI’s Float to Live campaign.

Paul Brandwood, The Royal Mint Experience Sales and Marketing Manager said:

‘We are delighted to support the RNLI in celebrating its 200th anniversary with the launch of this special 50p coin. The RNLI’s dedication to saving lives at sea is truly inspiring, and we are proud to contribute to their vital work through our partnership.

‘By displaying over 100 years of RNLI coin collection boxes and giving our guests the opportunity to strike their own RNLI 50p, we hope to raise awareness of the charity’s incredible history and provide meaningful support to their lifesaving mission.’

Don’t miss your chance to take part in this unique experience before it closes!
