The Beaumaris RNLI volunteer lifeboat crew launched their Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat Annette Mary Liddington and proceeded to commence a search of the area in addition to the lifeboat volunteers, the Mobile Coastguard Rescue Team from Penmon had also been tasked.

The search by the lifeboat volunteers and the coastguard team did not locate anything so at 4.55pm the coastguards stood down the search and instructed the lifeboat to return to station.

A RNLI spokesperson said: ‘This was a false alarm with good intent, and it is always better for us to be deployed than rather than make an assumption As always our collaboration with the coastguard team ensured a swift response to the this incident’
