Two shouts for Lymington RNLI
A busy Monday for the Lymington RNLI crew.
Lymington Coastguard Rescue Team were on scene with the casualty and decided to call for our assistance to administer pain relief. The lifeboat launched and were quickly on scene. Due to the sand bank off the beach at Milford they were unable to land the lifeboat on the beach, so two crew members swam ashore with the casualty care equipment. Once ashore the crew carried out a full assessment of the casualty and made her as comfortable as possible.
On arrival of the ambulance, the crews handed over the casualty and were stood down and retuned to station.
Crew: Declan O’Riordan (Helm), Allan Punton, Simon Nuding, Asher White.
On the same day at 5.49pm the pagers sounded again. Most of the crew were already at the station and preparing for a training exercise to assess a crew member.
The lifeboat launched and headed out to find the small motorboat with engine failure. The motorboat was just to the East of the Lymington River mouth and the sailor had managed to secure the boat by placing an anchor out.
The helm assessed the situation and decided that a tow was the best course of action given the location of the motorboat. The motorboat was bought into Lymington and placed on to the Harbour Masters Pontoon.
The lifeboat was prepared for service again and continued its training exercise.
Also a huge congratulations to Asher White who passed his level 2 crew assessment during the shout.
