Fundraising events for the lifesaving charity in the town – including summer’s record-breaking Lifeboat Week – have raised hundreds of thousands of pounds over recent years, and the volunteer treasurer is seen as a crucial member of the friendly and enthusiastic team which organises them.

Current treasurer Brian Cursley is retiring after serving the lifeboat volunteers in several roles for 20 years. He said: ‘I have thoroughly enjoyed my role and regard it as an honour to have played my part in fundraising to save lives at sea.’

Brian would be happy to have an informal chat with anyone interested in taking on his role. He can be contacted at [email protected]. Potential treasurers should also contact RNLI Community Manager Jason Luff at [email protected].
