The Beaumaris RNLI volunteer lifeboat crew launched their Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat Annette Mary Liddington and proceeded to the location. Once on scene a volunteer lifeboat crew member went on to the sandbar, but it was not possible to re-float the craft until the next incoming tide.

As the weather was suitable and they had the correct equipment including water to drink the two occupants of the craft elected to remain with it pending the incoming tide in a few hours. The coastguard would remain in regular contact with them until the re-floated and made it back to the shore.

A RNLI spokesperson said: ‘the ‘informant ashore did the correct thing in alerting the Coastguard to the situation. This meant our volunteer lifeboat crew were able to reach the casualty quickly, assess the situation and discuss the options available to the crew of the craft’.
