Newbiggin volunteers assist 5m fishing vessel
The busy period of calls for the lifeboat station continued today (Tuesday 3 September) with assistance this time given to an immobilised fishing vessel.
Newbiggin's Atlantic B class lifeboat Richard Wake Burdon was quickly launched from the beach and headed north to the casualty vessel position, known as Lyne Sands. Once on scene the casualty vessel, and its crew of four, were found to have resolved their engine issues and so the lifeboat escorted them back to Newbiggin.
Once the casualty was passed into the care of colleagues at Newbiggin Coastguard, the lifeboat left the bay for the regular Tuesday evening training.
