Success for Bridlington RNLI volunteer crew members

Volunteer crew member, Pete Sanderson, has completed his ‘Tier 2’ assessment of the Operational Competence Framework (OCF) on his development pathway. After being assessed on Wednesday 30 October, Pete is now a qualified substantive crew member of the all-weather lifeboat at Bridlington.

Pete, who joined Bridlington RNLI as a volunteer in June 2023, has qualified after many hours of rigorous training, which includes being safe around the station, being afloat on the all-weather lifeboat, and also includes a sea survival course at RNLI HQ in Poole. Pete was also assessed on launch and recovery of the boat, anchoring, towing, helming, locate and assisting a casualty and helicopter operations, to name but a few.

Also passing out on Tuesday 29 October as a qualified head launcher of the RNLI Tooltrack is volunteer crew member Aleks Lurans, who added this to his recent pass out as Tier-1 D-Class crew on the inshore lifeboat (ILB). The head launcher is responsible for taking command of the ILB which launches and recovers the inshore lifeboat from the boathouse to water’s edge and vice versa on recovery.

All of this would not have been possible without the support and dedication of the crew who have been part of their training and given Aleks and Pete the opportunity to achieve these milestones. Additionally, the station has greater resilience, especially during the working day, as we strive to maintain our 24/7 search and rescue capability’.’.
