Teignmouth RNLI volunteers raise £198.97 in regional fundraising effort
Volunteers from all areas of Teignmouth lifeboat station joined forces on 10 October to raise vital funds.
Volunteer boat crew, shore crew, station visits crew, and fundraising crew from Teignmouth lifeboat station came together to maximise coverage outside Teignmouth Train Station, collecting from 8am right through to 6pm. The day was a milestone moment as the RNLI celebrates 200 years of saving lives at sea.
A fantastic £198.97 was raised throughout the course of the day, with lots of positive interactions with members of the public as our team helped to spread the message of sea safety.
Key facts about the RNLI
The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts. The RNLI operates 238 lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland and more than 240 lifeguard units on beaches around the UK and Channel Islands. The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and government and depends on voluntary donations and legacies to maintain its rescue service. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, its lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved over 146,000 lives.
