
Arklow RNLI volunteers depart station to bring new lifeboat home
On October 6th 2024, members of Arklow RNLI’s volunteer lifeboat crew departed Arklow Lifeboat Station, a little after 13-53, to travel to the All Weather Lifeboat Centre in Poole and bring the station's new Shannon class lifeboat to its new home.
The volunteer crew met at the lifeboat station before setting off. When they reach the RNLI Lifeboat College in Poole, Dorset they will undergo final training before returning on passage, back to Arklow, with a few stops enroute.
The lifeboat crew members with the honour of bringing the new boat home are Ned Dillon, Eddie McElheron, Liam O’Neill, James Russell and Craig O’Reilly.

‘It's an exciting time to be involved at Arklow RNLI, with our new lifeboat arriving and our own 200 year celebrations coming up soon. To help us welcome the town's new lifeboat, we would love to see as many people as possible at the lifeboat station for 1.00pm on October 13th. All are welcome.'
