Lifeboats News Release

The local RNLI fundraising team headed out to Dunoon last week and were well supported by shoppers at Morrisons. The store enabled the team to set up till collections, bag packing and a pop-up shop of RNLI merchandise.

Fundraising chair Janet Lange confirmed a total of £726.11 had been raised for the charity from the day’s activities expressing “many thanks to everyone who contributed to our fundraising”. The support of the public and the store staff is much appreciated.

The RNLI depends on donations to support its work saving lives at sea, and the volunteer fundraisers work hard to organise a range of events throughout the year as well as staffing the station shop in Tighnabruaich.

Lynsey Anderson, RNLI Community Manager explained ‘The first shop to be run as part of an actual lifeboat station opened in 1990. Today, we have over 170 RNLI shops around the coast and inland, all of which are still run by our dedicated volunteers.’
