Presentation of drawing depicts RNLI Penlee’s bravery
Devon artist Nick Langdon’s most recent finished piece depicts Coxswain Patch Harvey at Penlee Lifeboat Station who was involved in the rescue of a yacht off Porthleven, and as a result of which was awarded a silver medal for gallantry.
Nick said: “It can be displayed as a lasting and fitting homage to what Patch and his crew accomplished and I decided that Penlee house would be a well-chosen home for it.”
RNLI Penlee Coxswain Patch Harvey received a Silver Medal for Gallantry and a Thanks of the Institution inscribed on Vellum for his exemplary display of courage, leadership and determination to save lives, along with his excellent boat-handling skills in extreme weather (hurricane conditions). The RNLI volunteer crew received the RNLI’s Silver Medal for Gallantry Certificates.
The crew of the HM Coastguard helicopter based at Newquay were presented with a Silver Medal Service Certificate by the RNLI for their outstanding lifesaving actions during that same rescue.
