Nick Langdon presents drawing to Penlee House Museum and Gallery. L-r Mayor of Penzance Stephen Reynolds, Katie Herbert curator/deputy director Penlee House, Nick Langdon, Tony Rendle mechanic at Penlee Lifeboat Station and Anna Renton director Penlee House.
It was that which inspired Nick to produce this drawing, copies of which can be bought from the online RNLI store, and he wanted, in this year of the bicentenary of the RNLI, to donate the original drawing to a suitable local gallery/museum and chose Penlee House Museum and Gallery.

Nick said: “It can be displayed as a lasting and fitting homage to what Patch and his crew accomplished and I decided that Penlee house would be a well-chosen home for it.”

RNLI Penlee Coxswain Patch Harvey received a Silver Medal for Gallantry and a Thanks of the Institution inscribed on Vellum for his exemplary display of courage, leadership and determination to save lives, along with his excellent boat-handling skills in extreme weather (hurricane conditions). The RNLI volunteer crew received the RNLI’s Silver Medal for Gallantry Certificates.

The crew of the HM Coastguard helicopter based at Newquay were presented with a Silver Medal Service Certificate by the RNLI for their outstanding lifesaving actions during that same rescue.
