Triathletes raise £500 for Hunstanton RNLI

Lifeboats News Release

Triathletes swam, biked and ran through a Norfolk seaside town to raise funds for the charity that saves lives at sea. On Sunday, 17 November, members of the King's Lynn Triathlon Club came to present the proceeds to the crew at Hunstanton RNLI.

Race director Chris Playford said: 'It's a charity close to all our hearts, you never know when you might need it. It's a really worthy cause.'

Chris added the proceeds from next year's Sunny Hunny Triathlon would also be donated to the RNLI.

Launch Authority Paul Stewart thanked the club for their kind donation.

'We just couldn't do what we do without things like this,' he added.

Some 120 took part in the event on Sunday 19 May. They included helm Jon Butler, who said after crossing the finishing line: 'It was a killer.'

Notes to Editors

Hunstanton is one of the busiest lifeboat stations in Norfolk.

Its volunteers operate both the inshore lifeboat Spirit of West Norfolk and a search and rescue hovercraft from their base on Sea Lane.

Like more than 200 RNLI stations around the coast of the UK and Ireland, the crew's lifesaving work could not be possible without the kindness of supporters who raise funds, make donations or leave a legacy to the charity.
