Two young boys under 16, were rescued on the evening of Saturday 16th November after being cut-off by the tide at Luccombe Bay.

Solent Coastguard coordinated the rescue effort, requesting immediate assistance from Bembridge RNLI, Bembridge Coastguard and Ventnor Coastguard.

Bembridge RNLI launched RNLB Norman Harvey (D-Class inshore lifeboat D-778) while Helicopter 175 provided aerial support, using thermal imaging to locate the stranded individuals. Once located, the lifeboat crew brought the pair onboard and transported them safely to Shanklin Esplanade where they were reunited with coastguards and their parents.

The rescue operation concluded with Bembridge RNLI rehousing the lifeboat at around 11:30pm.
