His Majesty the King was crowned on 6 May 2023 at Westminster Abbey. To commemorate the occasion frontline emergency service workers that had completed five full calendar years of service by that date qualified for the award and the medals have recently been issued.

The design features a double portrait of Their Majesties on the front and a version of the Royal Cypher, a laurel wreath and the date of the Coronation on the reverse.

The ribbon is made up of red, blue and white vertical stripes - the colours of the Union Flag and are made of nickel silver and plated in nickel.

Suffolk Deputy Lieutenant Erika Clegg presented the medals to the eligible crew members before the volunteers joined the Remembrance parade and service at St Edmunds Church Southwold.

Alongside the Coronation medals presentation there was a 20 year service medal for Fundraiser Peter Gillatt who has dedicated two decades as a member of the Southwold & Dunwich fundraising branch and more recently as a shop volunteer.

Lisa Cooper-Dann Chair of the Southwold & Dunwich fundraisers said: ‘Congratulations to Peter Gillatt on his well-deserved medal! His unwavering dedication to the RNLI over the past 20 years, as a tireless fundraiser, volunteer, and secretary of the fundraising committee, embodies the true spirit of selflessness and commitment to saving lives at sea. Thank you, Peter, for your remarkable service.’

Ian Dabbs said: ‘Peter has been a loyal supporter of the RNLI Fundraising team for over 20 years undertaking many roles.

He has regularly taken part in Street Collections, served on the Fundraising Committee and, more recently, has become a valued member of the Shop Volunteer Team.’
