Littlehampton RNLI frontline volunteers receive King’s Coronation medal
On Saturday 9 November Littlehampton RNLI volunteers gathered to celebrate the award of the King’s Coronation medal to 24 eligible members of the frontline operations team.
His Majesty the King was crowned on 6 May 2023 at Westminster Abbey. To commemorate the occasion frontline emergency service workers that had completed five full calendar years of service by that date qualified for the award and the medals have recently been issued. The medal is made of nickel silver and features a portrait of Their Majesties, King Charles and Queen Camilla, on the front and a version of the Royal Cypher, a laurel wreath and the date of the Coronation on the reverse. The ribbon of red, blue and white vertical stripes represent the colours of the Union Flag.
Names of recipients of the medal qualifying for the award, including their service at Littlehampton RNLI are: Adam Grummett, Andy Harris, Andy Hicks, David Gates, Gavin Simmons, Geoffrey Warminger, Harry Gregory, Ivan Greer, Jason Collins, Jim Cosgrove, Jon Prater, Josh Gruber, Lee Cullen, Michael Kelly, Mike McCartain, Nick White, Olly Clarke, Richard Howlett, Richard Winstanley, Rob Devo, Simon Tann, Stephen Howlett, Stuart Taylor, Warren Marden. Rear Admiral Nick Lambert presented the medals to the RNLI volunteers.
Nick White, Lifeboat Operations Manager at Littlehampton lifeboat station, said: “In the 200th year of the RNLI saving lives at sea we are honoured that volunteers from our frontline operations have been recognised for their selflessness and commitment to helping others with the award of the King’s Coronation Medal. We also welcome this year His Majesty as Patron of our charity as the RNLI navigates its mission into our third century of operations.”
