The pub’s popular Wednesday night quiz is always a hit, and this was no exception, with every seat filled and the quiz sold out ahead of time. Two teams made up of volunteers at the Cowes RNLI station also took part.

An auction was held with top prize a two-night stay and meal for two at the Woodvale Hotel, with wine supplied for the runners up. All proceeds went to the RNLI, totalling £450.

Pier View Duty Manager, Chelsey Travell, said:

"Cowes RNLI are local to us and we really value and appreciate what they do for Cowes’ sailing community. We has wonderful feedback from the night, with over 50 people attending, which is brilliant. We were really pleased to hand over a £450 to the charity, and we are already in talks about hosting another fundraising quiz in the near future. Thank you to everyone who made an effort to come along and support a great cause."

Mark Southwell, Cowes RNLI Station Operations Manager, said:

"It’s always great to see local people and businesses support us here in Cowes. The station is part of the town, and many of us attended the quiz and very much enjoyed it. Thank you to everyone who came along, and to the Pier View team, for your support in our 200th year. Donations like this are vital to allow us to continue our work saving lives at sea."

Many thanks also to quizmaster Derek Smith.
