Invergordon RNLI mark the fourth anniversary of Launch a Memory
Invergordon’s volunteer crew & tour guides came together to pay respect to the 9500 additional crewmates who sail on the hull of the station’s Shannon class lifeboat.
Today, Friday 1st November, marks the fourth anniversary of the Shannon class ‘RNLB Agnes AP Barr’ (RNLI 13-37) arrival and the crew and visits team gathered by the full decal sign, which is an exact replica of her hull numbers, complete with all the names on the RNLI’s first Launch a Memory campaign to show their respect and thanks for the support shown to them over the four years on station.
At 1337 today we remembered all those whose names who have been carefully placed on to the side of the lifeboat with a placing of wreath by Invergordon Lifeboat Launch Authority – Andrew Shepherd at the base of the RNLI 13-37 sign, with several members of the volunteer crew and visits team standing by on both Port and Starboard sides to mark their respect, which was followed by a minute’s silence
Invergordon RNLI LOM Andrew Shepherd said: “It was an honour and privilege to place the wreath and remember those who sail with us each time the lifeboat goes to sea. It has been four years since our Launch a Memory Shannon came on station in November 2020 and it has been heart-warming to know that since station has opened its doors to guided tours this has offered visitors the opportunity to learn about the station, the lifeboat, its capabilities and remember their loved ones on the hull and hearing their stories of their loved ones and why it is important to them as it is us.Notes to editors
