On Sunday 17 March, the singing group formed in the Burnhams where Nelson was born and delivered a £2,000 donation to Hunstanton RNLI.
Volunteers at the station were returning from their regular Sunday morning training session in driving rain, supported by a tractor driver and shore crew, as the singers turned up to touch base.
As crew members washed down the craft to make them ready for service Steve Ireson, leader of the 18-strong group, said: 'They save lives at sea, it's very important knowing there's an organisation there whenever someone's in desperate need.'
Rigil Kent, Lifeboat Operations Manager at Hunstanton RNLI, said: 'This donation will go towards the upkeep of the station and training the crew, to enable us to continue our lifesaving work.'
Notes to editor
Formed in 2010, Nelson's Shantymen sang at the launch of Hunstanton's current Atlantic 85 lifeboat
Spirit of West Norfolk when the craft arrived on station the following year.
To date, they have raised more than £55,000 for charities including the RNLI from both their live performances and sales of CDs including Singing for Victory (2012) and England Expects (2020).
Hunstanton is one of the busiest RNLI stations in Norfolk. A lifeboat service was first founded in the town in 1824 - the year in which the RNLI was formed.
Today it operates both a fast inshore lifeboat and a search and rescue hovercraft from its station on Sea Lane.

The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts. The RNLI operates 238 lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland and more than 240 lifeguard units on beaches around the UK and Channel Islands. The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and government and depends on voluntary donations and legacies to maintain its rescue service. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, its lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved over 146,000 lives.
