Lifeboat Operations Manager
Firstly we welcome Lisa Parker as our new Lifeboat Operations Manager (LOM), a pivotal role within the lifeboat station with responsibility for the safe and efficient deployment of our lifeboats and running of the station.

Lisa Parker, Lifeboat Operations Manager says:

‘Having recently joined the RNLI as Clacton-on-Sea’s Lifeboat Operations Manager, I am in awe of the fantastic work that goes on up and down the country to save lives at sea. I am pleased to see women in a number of challenging and difficult roles across the institution. Their dedication and commitment should inspire us all.’

‘On International Women’s Day we recognise and celebrate the important role that women play in the RNLI and thank you for your contributions. I want to thank them for their hard work and we should celebrate their past, present and future achievements. It is a privilege and an honour to stand beside you.’

Fundraising Team
Our lifeboat service is funded by kind donations from the public, and key to the success of that fundraising in Clacton are our Ladies Fundraising group, headed by Wendy Edwards. Their long term association with the station of over 40 years, and very recently successfully run a coffee morning to raise more than £440. Without the vital work of our fundraisers, we could not launch our boats to help those in need.

Operational Crew
How do we get our lifeboats from the safety of our lifeboat station onto the seas? Meet Chelsea, one of our volunteer crew who is equally at home driving our small tractor to launch our ILB (Inshore Lifeboat) or our 10 tonne ‘Bendy’ articulated tractor launching our B-Class Atlantic 85. Her expertise, skills and thorough training ensure we safely deliver our lifeboats to the sea to help anyone in trouble.

Mark Walsham, Lifeboat Press Officer says:

‘Supporting International Women’s Day 2024 is an important date for our lifeboat station where we reflect on the amazing contributions made by our women volunteers. These women are integral to the smooth running of our life saving service.’

‘We all have a part to play in forging a more inclusive world for women, one where, collectively we can all inspire inclusion. Our volunteers demonstrate that you too can succeed and thrive within the RNLI.’

‘We have a number of volunteering roles becoming available throughout 2024 and we encourage people to apply and possibly join our supportive and inclusive team. Search for RNLI Volunteering Opportunities and type in Clacton as your location for more information.’
