New Coxswain for The Mumbles Lifeboat Station

Congratulations to Josh Stewart who has been appointed as the new full time Coxswain of The Mumbles Lifeboat Station.

Josh Stewart

Josh Stewart who has been covering as station Coxswain, has been with the RNLI for 10 years. He has a strong maritime background having been crew on the Aberdovey Lifeboat and on the Swansea Pilot Boat. He said:

'As the coxswain of The Mumbles lifeboat I feel very privileged to be part of a dedicated and passionate team of volunteers. I relish the opportunity to contribute to the local community and strive to save lives at sea no matter the conditions.'

Josh is stepping up from deputy, to become The Mumbles RNLI's 13th Coxswain, following the retirement of Martin Double.

Martin joined the RNLI 30 years ago and has served as Mechanic, Coxswain and most recently Area Lifesaving Manager.

He took part in a number of notable rescues and helped save over 100 lives.

From all at the station, we wish Martin a happy retirement, welcome Josh and thank them both for their service.

The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts. The RNLI operates 238 lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland and more than 240 lifeguard units on beaches around the UK and Channel Islands.
