Two scuba divers had found themselves in difficulty after returning to the surface of the water, and found the tides and the swell had increased so much that they were being swept away.

Unable to reach the shore, they managed to cling to a buoy while had raising the alarm to their colleagues on the shore.

The two men were quickly located and brought aboard the inshore lifeboat ‘Sheila’. They were brought back to Eyemouth harbour, feeling shaken but well enough to return home.

Eyemouth Lifeboat Operations Manager, George Davidson said,’ these divers were fortunate, they had friends on the shore that called 999 for assistance when they spotted there was a problem. Always check the tides and weather as part of your dive plan, and let others know of your plans’.
