Singing up a Storm for Kirkcudbright RNLI
RNLI 200 was celebrated by local community choir SongWave in a summer concert.
Entitled “Singing up a Storm” a total sum of £879.96 was raised at a retiring collection at the end of each of the three concerts. This was donated to the Kirkcudbright RNLI local appeal for the new boathouse extension.
Led by Kate Howard, the joyful choir gave a wonderfully varied concert with a nautical theme. The songs ranged from Dalmatian love songs to the Unst Boat Song, Scotland’s oldest known song, from the fun loving Swimming Song to the poignant Harbour into Amazing Grace with much besides.
Christine Collins, volunteer Lifeboat Press Officer for Kirkcudbright RNLI Lifeboat said: 'This is a fantastic boost to our fundraising appeal it has been heartwarming how the choir has got behind us. Added to that the concert was superb and enjoyed by all who attended.
'Many members of the community are supporting us in lots of ways to fund the new boathouse extension. Kirkcudbright RNLI is very grateful for their contributions which allows our voluntary crew to continue to save lives at sea well into the future.'
