On Wednesday 19 June, James, Craig, and Caden, embarked on a six-hour journey to the RNLI College in Poole to participate in their Crew Emergency Procedures (CEP) course at the Sea Survival Centre.

The CEP course is designed to equip lifeboat crew members with essential skills to handle emergency situations effectively. During their training, James, Craig, and Caden engaged in various critical exercises, including capsize drills, lifejacket usage, and equipment handling. This training not only enhances their proficiency in RNLI protocols but also certifies them in the STCW 95 standard.

One of the highlights of the course was the 5 metre platform jump into the pool, where the crew had to survive simulated elements within a liferaft. This realistic training, crafted by the exceptional RNLI training team, provided invaluable experience.

In addition to water-based emergency training, the crew members also received instruction in onboard firefighting techniques and explored the use of pyrotechnics.

Crew member and volunteer Lifeboat Press Officer (LPO), James Medcalf, expressed his appreciation for the experience: 'We all had a wonderful time at the ''college of knowledge''. It was fascinating to see all the SAR (search and rescue) equipment in one place, and the course itself was very well instructed.'

James, Craig, and Caden extend their thanks to the incredible team at the RNLI College for their hospitality and expert guidance throughout the course.
