
Eyemouth RNLI lifeboat assists capsized dinghy crew
Eyemouth inshore lifeboat ‘Sheila’ assisted the crew of the dinghy after they overturned
The sailing dinghy was in Eyemouth bay when it capsized, throwing the crew into the water, in front of worried family and holiday makers on Saturday 22 June 2024.
The RNLI volunteers launched the inshore lifeboat and rescued the crew from the water, the dinghy was righted and brought to the beach along with her soaking crew who were unhurt by the incident.
Eyemouth coxswain Andrew Jamieson, ‘the onlookers did the right thing when they called 999 and asked for the Coastguard, we were able to rescue the people from the water quickly’.
The inshore lifeboat was stood down and made ready for further service.
